Historic Rochester grain elevator site slated for redevelopment, brownfield cleanup By Natalie Broda Oakland Press (MI) October 23, 2020 The city of Rochester will be receiving $1 million from the state to help clean up ground contamination on the site of the historic Rochester grain elevator. Located at 303 E. University St., the 140-year-old grain elevator and the property it sits on have been under contract for purchase by developers Frank Rewold & Sons since this summer. The company, in tandem with city administration, submitted a grant application for the funds to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy earlier this year to transform the site into an office building. At a recent city council meeting, a resolution was passed to accept the grant funding.
