Feds sue Delaware over environmental cleanup at state park By RANDALL CHASE Associated Press December 17, 2020 DOVER, Del. - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has filed a lawsuit seeking millions of dollars from the state of Delaware for costs associated with the cleanup of lead-contaminated material at Fort DuPont State Park. The lawsuit filed Wednesday claims the federal government is owed some $3.8 million for cleaning up lead-contaminated material more than five years ago from a former dump site at the park. The lawsuit states that federal officials notified the state in August 2016 of potential liability that demanded payment of response costs.
