NJCU opens Fort Monmouth campus, makes Oceanport a university town by Dan Radel Asbury Park Press (NJ) August 26, 2021 OCEANPORT - With the opening of New Jersey City University's satellite campus, the borough is now a university town. The ribbon cutting for the campus' renovated Squier Hall building, located on the old Fort Monmouth grounds, was held Wednesday. Classes start Sept. 1. In a nod to the military history of the fort, which at one time served as the base of the Signal Corps, the university maintained the corps insignia of two flags crossed and a gold torch on its façade.
