Officials Offer Update With Regard To Ongoing PFAS Water Issues
Testing and analysis continues for ground water, lake water, storm water, and waste water

Officials representing the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, District Health Department #10, and the Michigan Army National Guard presented an online update to the community regarding the ongoing PFAS water contamination issues in Crawford County, offering updated maps and information about current testing of a variety of sources, including possible storm water and waste water issues.

An August 2018 document – Preliminary Assessment Report Camp Grayling, prepared for the Army National Guard and the US Army Corps of Engineers – suggests that local PFAS contamination at military sites like the Grayling Army Airfield and Camp Grayling came from “aqueous film forming form (AFFF) released during firefighting activities or training, although other PFAS sources are possible.”
