Progress made on Romeo trailside park in 2009

This past year, plans for transforming an abandoned storage site into a
trailside park were brought closer to fruition.
Since 2005, the Macomb Orchard Trail Commission has worked with the Road
Commission of Macomb County to transform an abandoned Road Commission
station on Clinton Street west of M-53 into a park that would link up
with the Macomb Orchard Trail.
The old industrial site stored salt, brine and equipment for servicing
the northern part of the county, and was leased to the trail commission
on a 20-year lease for $1 a year.
