Consultant will be hired to review controversial Pittsford project

Pittsford - An outside consultant will weigh in on whether the
controversial Westport Crossing project in Pittsford needs a new
environmental review after a vote by the Village Board early Monday.
The board voted 4-1 to hire the consultant, F-E-S Associates, to
investigate the most recent hiccup in Mark IV Enterprises' plan to
build a complex with 167 apartment units and a 125-seat bistro on the
site of a former asphalt plant at 75 Monroe Ave. along the Erie Canal.
The developer received a permit a year ago but the plan has changed
since then, moving the restaurant closer to the canal.
