Geneva mulls Benson's options

GENEVA - Geneva City Council has decided to apply for a second grant from the Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA) to fully remediate Benson’s gas station at 112 E. Main.
The gas station has been vacant for six years. Last year, the city received a $100,000 grant from ODSA to remove gas tanks, pumps and other petroleum brownfield pollutants there. The building, formerly an eyesore, was spruced up and painted by Geneva High School volunteers.
Benson’s gas station is currently owned by the Ashtabula County Land Reutilization Corporation, also known as the land bank, which will have the final decision in what happens to the building, said Geneva Zoning Administrator Amanda White.
