Community Within the Corridor tenants receive 25K in settlement with developers
A judge approved the settlement Tuesday

MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County judge approved a settlement Tuesday giving former tenants at Community Within the Corridor $25,000 for the inconvenience of being displaced, according to the tenants' attorney.
Health officials said they found high levels of a toxic chemical at the Community Within the Corridor building near 32nd and Center, in March 2023. Experts detected toxic levels of a cancer-causing chemical called Trichloroethylene, or TCE, inside.
People living in 21 of the 58 units evacuated filed a class action lawsuit against the developers. The lawsuit alleges the developers ignored warnings from the state when they allowed people to move in.
