Fairfax Parkway To Get Missing Link
Construction of 2-Mile Leg Near Dulles Starts in 2009

The two missing miles of the Fairfax County Parkway will finally be
built, putting an end to years of bureaucratic wrangling and a
frustrating detour that has long thwarted commuters on one of Northern
Virginia's most important highways.

The road will cut through Fort Belvoir's Engineering Proving Ground, or
EPG, which has complicated planning. The proving ground was used for
munitions testing that left major environmental damage.

Plans to move thousands of jobs to the proving ground, as mandated by
the Base Closure and Realignment Commission (BRAC), made a resolution
more urgent.
