The Defense Environmental Response Task Force (DERFT) will have their
eleventh annual meeting at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel on 8-9
January 1997 in Costa Mesa, Ca.
Major topics in the presentation, that should be of great import are:
Effects of military base closures in our fair state.
Retention of the BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) envirornmental
coordinators and members of the BCT (BRAC cleanup team).
Panel presentation on institutional controls.
Administrative reforms of Superfund.
Presentations by the BCTs and RABs (Restoration Advisory Boards) of MCAS,
(Marine Corps Air Station) El Toro and Tustin, Ca.
A visit to MCAS El Toro and MCAS, Tustin by the members of the DERTF.
Public comment period will begin at 1800 hrs or 6PM on 8 Jan.
The DERTF functions as a DoD federal advisory committee and provides an
annual report to Congress on its findings and recommendations. The annual
report contains recommendations for expediting and improving env response
actions at mil installations that are being closed or that are subject to
closure.
A summary of the progress accomplished by Fed and state agencies in
implementing the recommenations of DERTF.
