East Bay Parks buys 83 acres of shoreline for new regional park at Point Molate near Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Former Navy fuel site that once faced development proposals for luxury housing and a casino will instead be preserved as the East Bay’s newest regional park By CHASE HUNTER Bay Area News Group (CA) August 29, 2025 For decades, the future of Point Molate north of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge has been up in the air. The idyllic stretch of Bay Area shoreline had been the site of a Navy fueling site, faced proposed development as a casino, and nearly saw the construction of 1,450 luxury housing units as conservationists and developers battled over its future.
