‘Insulting’: Community outraged after Navy excused from meetings on Red Hill spill By Raquel Calo Hawaii News Now February 19, 2026 HONOLULU - The Navy is no longer required to meet with community members regarding the 2021 Red Hill fuel spill that contaminated drinking water for more than 90,000 Oahu residents, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. In the wake of the fuel spill, the Navy had been required to attend meetings held by the Community Representation Initiative, or CRI, but skipped many of those gatherings.
