'Very high' dieldrin concentrations, military investigation plan by Friday; Guam EPA hosting Yigo town hall on Wednesday

Reports about several of the old housing unit renovations at Andersen Air Force Base, a potential source for dieldrin now found in water, have been handed over to the Guam Environmental Protection Agency and more data is anticipated.
“The concentrations are very high, and they’re very consistent over many years of data,” Guam EPA senior science advisor Capt. Elizabeth DeGrange told the agency board on Thursday.
In Guam’s weather, the half-life for the chemical to break down should be about a month, she said.
Banned since the 1980s, the chemical should have been broken down further after 40 years.
