Depot environmental group hears of factors affecting cleanupAnniston’s water supply assured ‘safe to drink’

The Anniston Army Depot Restoration Advisory Board met Wednesday in Oxford to review remediation activities and future plans concerning contaminated groundwater and soils at the depot and surrounding areas.

Co-chairs Adam Maniscalco of Oxford and Col. Charles Moore from the Anniston Army Depot led the discussion, requesting answers on timelines and recommendations for remediation from representatives of the EPA, ADEM and the Army Environmental Command.

Two new members were voted onto the board: Justinn Overton, executive director of Coosa Riverkeepers and Dr. Ross Martin, professor of geology at JSU.
