Army Corps wraps up demo of homes built on top of radioactive contamination near Coldwater Creek By Kate Grumke St. Louis Public Radio (MO) September 16, 2026 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Wednesday it had completed a remediation project that involved demolishing homes near Coldwater Creek in Florissant. The homes in the Cades Cove subdivision were built on top of radioactive contamination from World War II-era efforts to build an atomic energy program. As part of the $15 million remediation effort, the Army Corps demolished six houses and worked on two other properties.
