The US is allocating an additional $221 million to address the consequences of the war in Vietnam. Vietnam and the United States signed two agreements totaling an additional $221 million for projects to address the consequences of chemical/dioxin contamination after the war, including $130 million for pollution remediation at Bien Hoa airport. By Báo Tiền Phong•23/09/2026 Vietnam.vn September 23, 2026 On the afternoon of September 23rd, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence (Hanoi), a signing ceremony took place for a limited-scope project agreement with the United States to implement projects to mitigate the consequences of chemical/dioxin contamination after the war in Vietnam. ... According to the Ministry of Defense, the "Dioxin Contamination Remediation Project at Bien Hoa Airport," which signed a Limited-Scope Project Agreement (LSPA) with the US Embassy, has received an additional approximately $130 million, raising the total amount of non-refundable US ODA funding for the project from $300 million to approximately $430 million, creating additional resources to continue implementing contamination remediation tasks in the coming phase. The project, launched in 2019, has achieved significant results. To date, approximately 41 hectares have been certified as cleared according to the project's applicable standards and regulations.
