Mill Reuse Pilot Program Seeks to Identify Closed, Abandoned Wood Mills for Future Redevelopment For more information go to: http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/981203/ca_trade_c_1.html http://www.commerce.ca.gov The California Trade and Commerce Agency will assist in coordinating environmental site evaluations for up to six, closed mill sites throughout California. The state's Mill Reuse Pilot Program, which is being modeled after the Oregon Mill site Conversion Project, intends minimize risk to landowners requiring Phase I and II assessments. The U.S. EPA Brownfields Pilot grant program is providing $200,000 in seed money for Mill Pilot Program. Preliminary selection is expected to be complete by April 1999. Communities, counties, cities and mill site property owners interested in receiving an application package are encouraged to contact Karen Homolac, at the California Trade and Commerce Agency's Sacramento Regional Office, 916/324-8656.
