This article on environmental insurance, particularly the cost cap policy,
is generally accurate. These policies are almost indispensable in
brownfields projects (see the HUD Report). However, I'd like to correct two
mis-statements. First of all, there are five, not four, companies who offer
this insurance -- the article left out United Capitol. Secondly, the
deductible is not 10 to 20% of the estimated costs. It's a self-insured
retention, and it usually IS the estimated cost, often with a 10% buffer.
