I'm Brian Haughton, a partner in the Environmental Law Department at
Landels
Ripley & Diamond, LLP in San Francisco.  Landels has 85 lawyers, 35 of
whom
are in the Department.  I started practicing law in 1983, and for the
last
10 years most of my work has related to contaminated property.  My areas
of
experience include counseling, transactional work and advocacy (in civil
and
criminal litigation and administrative proceedings) relating to
brownfield
cleanups, cleanup cost recovery, land use, construction and most of the
state and federal environmental statutes (including CEQA, Prop 65, HSAA,

HWCL, Porter-Cologne, CERCLA, RCRA, ESA and CWA).  I have represented
brownfield buyers, sellers and lenders in most aspects of the brownfield

redevelopment process.  Landels also has a thriving real estate practice

which both supports and is supported by our environmental practice.

I am also an adjunct professor of environmental law at Hastings College
of
the Law in San Francisco.  Since 1994, I have taught a spring semester
seminar on contaminated property issues.  From 1991 to 1993, I taught a
similar course at USF School of Law.

Most of the rest of my waking hours are spent playing with my family,
which
includes three active daughters.
