Bank of America and the Urban Land Institute Partner on Smart Growth

ATLANTA--May 6, 1999--Bank of America has committed $200,000 to the
Urban Land Institute (ULI) over the next two years to foster more
informed and collaborative efforts among Smart Growth stakeholders. This
partnership with ULI, including outreach programs that will help define
and focus regional Smart Growth efforts, further evidences the bank's
commitment to America's cities.

The partnership will establish a Smart Growth Community Outreach
initiative that offers leadership training and a tool kit of options to
communities working toward an inclusive implementation of Smart Growth
initiatives. Efforts will begin in Atlanta, Charlotte, Los Angeles,
Phoenix, San Francisco, and Maryland. The bank's commitment will also
support ULI's ongoing National Policy Forums and its National Partners
for Smart Growth Conference 2000, to be held in November 1999 in San
Diego, California.
