ICMA 2001 Brownfields Peer Exchange Applications Available


The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) 
is please to announce that applications are now available 
for the 2001 Brownfields Peer Exchange. The objective of the 
Peer Exchange Program is to research the critical elements 
of effective brownfields redevelopment that can be 
replicated by and adapted to other communities. The Peer 
Exchange pairs more experienced "mentor" communities with 
"protege" communities that have requested assistance with 
specific aspects of brownfields cleanup and redevelopment. 
ICMA is seeking both mentor and protege communities. At the 
end of the Peer Exchange, ICMA will write and publish a 
final report that will present case studies of the 
participating communities, discuss the activities of the 
peer exchanges, and share the best practices and lessons 
learned while focusing on how other local governments can 
adapt these methods in their own communities.
Applicants are required to complete a questionnaire that 
will help ICMA staff members select and match up communities 
interested in participating as mentors and proteges. 
Applications are due by March 2, 2001. Participants will be 
chosen by mid-March, and all applicants will be notified 
with the results of the selection process. The peer 
exchanges will then take place over several months, 
culminating in site visits to the protege community during 
the summer.
