Tests show no contamination Jill Kaiser Dion Milford Mirror (CT) July 29, 2004 Residents on Home Acres Avenue can rest a little easier now that test results show no soil contamination from the nearby Schick property. That was the message from the mayor, health director and several other officials who gathered at Milford City Hall last week to announce the test results. A prepared statement written by Wayne Travers Jr. for Schick-Wilkinson Sword states that "recent Milford Health Department sampling of residential properties adjacent to its plant for trichloroethylene (TCE) revealed no evidence of TCE contamination of the surface soil, shallow groundwater or soil vapor." Traces of TCE were detected on the property in the mid-1990s, according to Milford Health Director A. Dennis McBride.
