DEP sets up stations to monitor air quality in Collegeville area Evan Brandt Pottstown Mercury (PA) December 29, 2004 COLLEGEVILLE -- The state has established two air monitoring stations in the area six months after telling angry residents that it would. One station is located in Evansburg State Park and another at the College Street School Community Building in Trappe, owned by the Perkiomen Valley School District. "We're conducting this effort in follow-up to mobile air monitoring that took place in Collegeville earlier this year," said Joseph Feola, director of the Southeast Regional office of the state Department of Environmental Protection in Norristown. "Data from these newly installed stationary monitors will provide valuable information regarding air toxins in the Collegeville area, and allow us to compare these results to other regional and statewide locations," he said in a prepared statement. It was during a public meeting on June 29, 2004, aimed primarily at explaining the results of an air contamination study in Pottstown, that state officials revealed even worse contamination had been found in the air in Collegeville. In both cases, the substance in question was trichloroethylene, better known as TCE, a suspected carcinogen. ...
