Testing continues at Liberty; drinking water proves clean By Hasso Hering Albany Democrat-Herald (OR) April 1, 2005 Groundwater tests at Albany's Liberty Elementary School turned up elevated levels of TCE, a probable cancer agent, but the drinking water and air in the school tested clean, officials report. The tests were arranged by the Albany Research Center starting last week to see whether underground contamination detected at the center had spread. Today, the Department of Environmental Quality was testing the air inside the school with even more sensitive instruments capable of detecting TCE, if it's there, in parts of trillion. The tests are intended to detect if vapor from the TCE in the groundwater was finding its way into the school. ...
