Value of Tallevast homes in limbo By KATHLEEN CULLINAN Sarasota Herald-Tribune (FL) June 26, 2005 TALLEVAST -- What's a home worth if it's sitting in a polluted community? That's what residents, a defense industry giant, real estate professionals and even the county's property appraiser are trying to figure out. So far, none of them have the answer. Dozens of homes in Tallevast are located near contaminated soil and ground water, the legacy of a weapons manufacturing plant that operated for nearly 40 years in the neighborhood before closing in 1996. Lockheed Martin bought the plant and is responsible for the cleanup. ...
