EPA presents revised cleanup plan for tainted site Changes mean more thorough soil cleanup By LINDA CRUSE Kansas City Star July 27, 2005 Olathe residents who live near a contaminated site were pleased to hear a plan that proposes a more thorough cleanup. On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency presented a revised plan to remove contaminants that seeped into the ground during the 40-year operation of Chemical Commodities Inc. The revision followed public comments last year that residents were not entirely happy with the cleanup plan. ... The EPA continues to monitor vapor levels in 34 homes near the site. Ventilation systems have been installed to monitor TCE vapors to ensure that they don't exceed acceptable levels. ...
