EPA presents revised cleanup plan for tainted site
Changes mean more thorough soil cleanup

Kansas City Star
July 27, 2005

Olathe residents who live near a contaminated site were pleased to hear
a plan that proposes a more thorough cleanup.

On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency presented a revised plan
to remove contaminants that seeped into the ground during the 40-year
operation of Chemical Commodities Inc. The revision followed public
comments last year that residents were not entirely happy with the
cleanup plan.

The EPA continues to monitor vapor levels in 34 homes near the site.
Ventilation systems have been installed to monitor TCE vapors to ensure
that they don't exceed acceptable levels.
