Harding Avenue tested for toxins By Jennifer Huberdeau North Adams Transcript (MA) September 1, 2005 NORTH ADAMS -- The same toxic fumes that resulted in the purchase and demolition of 17 homes in the city's West End are now the subject of another investigation in the Harding Avenue area. Two new soil-gas monitoring points and an additional groundwater sampling well are being installed near 60 and 90 Harding Avenue by Blasland, Bouck & Lee Inc., an engineering firm. The firm is overseeing the groundwater monitoring program associated with the former Sprague Electric Co.'s Brown and Marshall Street facilities. "This is something standard. There is no cause for concern," Elizabeth M. Stinehart, spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection's Western Region said. ...
