EPA to update residents in Perkasie on TCE probe More than 70 homes have been tested for the contaminant. By Dalondo Moultrie Allentown Morning Call (PA) September 28, 2005 Perkasie residents will get their second update tonight on a federal investigation of the borough's contamination by TCE, a potentially cancer-causing chemical. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency representatives will give a brief update of the investigation that began in September 2003 and then open the forum to questions, EPA press officer Bonnie Smith said. "It informs people on the level they like to be informed," she said. "Everyone wants to know 'Why is, or why isn't, my house in the study area?'" EPA investigators have tested four homes for TCE vapor intrusion since last briefing the community in March, said Rich Fetzer, EPA on-scene coordinator. Overall, they have tested more than 70 homes, including about 15 near the Stainless Inc. property, a former industrial plant on S. Ninth Street in downtown Perkasie that is contaminated. ...
