Toxic cleanup moves to homes VAPORS: Tests start in an area neighborhood to see if chemical waste from Wyle Laboratories spread there.
Workers this week will begin cleaning up hazardous waste in a Norco neighborhood adjacent to the former Wyle Laboratories' site, the first time cleanup work has occurred outside of the company grounds. At the same time, state officials will test for contamination in another neighborhood previously deemed clear of significant pollution. Crews began installing equipment to extract harmful soil vapors along Golden West Lane, northwest of Wyle, a hazardous-testing facility that closed last year. State officials also plan to test for pollution inside two homes along El Paso Drive to the south of Wyle. Two years ago, regulators with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control determined that there was little evidence that contamination flowed south of Wyle. Attorneys for three homeowners in that area recently commissioned private tests that showed traces of the Wyle contaminants inside the homes. ...
