Brownfield testing precedes South Troy redevelopment By: Steven S. Couse Troy Record (NY) January 19, 2006 TROY - There are big plans for the South Troy waterfront, but environmental concerns must be addressed first. Local residents gathered at the Polish American Club Thursday to review brownfield testing results at two sites, the Alamo, on Main Street near the county jail, and the former Scolite property, also known as the former Rensselaer Iron Works, just south of the Poestenkill. "The good news is that there is nothing to fear from the sites for local residents," said Rod Aldrich of Sterling Environmental Engineering of Latham. "The bad news is that the sites are contaminated." ...
