West Endicott residents told about plans for TCE cleanup By Tom Wilber Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) February 10, 2006 ENDICOTT - Plans to clean and test a neighborhood tainted with TCE in the western part of the village drew lots of questions from an audience of about 50 people at a public meeting Thursday. Technicians will begin determining what homes need to be tested around an industrial site on 312 Maple St., beginning this winter, Thomas Suozzo, an engineer with the state Department of Environmental Conservation, told the crowd in a lecture hall at Union-Endicott High School. Additionally, work will begin to excavate and truck dirt tainted with trichloroethylene (TCE) in coming months. Some residents asked why pollution at the site, which was documented in the mid-1990s, wasn't addressed sooner. ...
