Brisbane's big development stalling Plans for retail-office complex and housing need more work, residents say during meeting By Todd R. Brown Inside Bay Area/San Mateo County Times (CA) March 23, 2006 BRISBANE — This small city of almost 3,600 has big dreams for boosting its population and supercharging its tax revenue. But plans for turning the former railroad yard and dump east of Bayshore Boulevard into a retail and office complex and building housing at the base of the San Bruno Mountains quarry are far from coming true. Developers are working with the city to satisfy environmental requirements, and the city is working with residents to ensure dialogue about open space and safety for both projects. On Tuesday night, the City Council and the Planning Commission heard public comment on what to focus on for the Baylands environmental impact report. Universal Paragon Corp. wants to transform the 659-acre "brownfield" site from industrial and vacant land into a "green" gateway to the city, featuring an entertainment district and park space. ...
