[CPEO-BIF] May 4-5 EPA conference on Revitalizing and Protecting America's Watersheds

The following is taken from the Web site for the upcoming national 
Collaborative Cleanups II Meeting: Revitalizing and Protecting America's 
Watersheds. Hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office 
of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER) and Office of Water (OW), 
this meeting will be held at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton 
Woods, New Hampshire on May 4-5, 2006, immediately before the River 
Network's River Rally. There will also be optional training sessions on 
May 3 and a welcoming reception.

The purpose of this conference is to develop practical actions for more 
effective collaboration to protect, restore, and revitalize land and 
water resources.

At Collaborative Cleanups II, a diverse set of stakeholders from 
community, state, federal, tribal, non-government, and private 
organizations will convene to:

    * Identify common goals and areas of interaction among groups 
involved with:
  - watershed management and protection
  - cleanup and reuse of contaminated land, sediment, and groundwater
  - protection of drinking water sources
  - management of local collaborative environmental processes
    * Showcase successful on-the-ground collaborative processes that 
improve local water and land resource protection
    * Capitalize on knowledge and experience of participants to move 
collaboration forward
    * Brainstorm and problem solve solutions to significant barriers 
and challenges
    * Coordinate inter-governmental and public policy and program 
implementation
    * Improve land and water environmental programs for better 
environmental, economic, and social results in watersheds and communities.

There is no registration fee. Some travel scholarships for 
community/local/collaborative groups are available.
