Plan eyes houses on industrial site

Developer envisions up to 1,200 homes near Westminster

Carma Colorado, which is developing suburban housing communities in Aurora and Brighton, has targeted a smaller infill development next to a former manufacturing facility at the edge of Westminster.

Still, the 144-acre site at West 70th Avenue and Zuni Street in Adams County could contain 1,000 to 1,200 housing units when completed.

Carma is a subsidiary of Canadian commercial developer Brookfield Properties, which owns the 56-story Republic Plaza in downtown Denver.

The site Carma has under contract is next to the former Hamilton Sundstrand airplane parts manufacturing plant.
