Emerson adds to cleanup offer Firm to pay electric costs of home mitigation systems By JENNIE DALEY Ithaca Journal (NY) May 13, 2006 ITHACA - Responding to resident concerns, Emerson Power Transmission agreed to pay the electricity costs associated with mitigation systems they are installing on South Hill. The current estimate is that it costs $12 per month, or $144 per year, to power the fans needed to move contaminated soil gas vapors out of homes. News of the offer came to homeowners in the form of a letter dated May 10. In it, Emerson agrees to send property owners a monthly check made out to New York State Electric and Gas for the estimated cost of fan operation. This agreement will exist for as long as the state Department of Environmental Conservation deems the mitigation systems necessary. Emerson will evaluate the electricity rate annually. ...
