Progress made on Brownfield sitesBy Andrea Rose Scarborough Current (ME) July 19, 2006 SANFORD: Four Sanford sites are the targets of environmental assessments funded by a $200,000 grant from the Federal Environmental Protection Agency. The Gallo property on Cottage Street, the Mapes property on Washington Street, the Mill Area/Riverwalk along the Mousam River and the CGA site on New Dam Road were identified. The sites were chosen based upon preliminary inventories and evaluations performed by the town and environmental consultants in conjunction with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the EPA. The Town of Sanford received a $200,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency in June 2004. After a bid process, Weston & Sampson, environmental engineers from Peabody, Mass., was then secured to help identify and evaluate eligible properties in Sanford. ...
