City leaders rebuff one of their own Commissioners deny Kirk Valentine’s request for an incentive to build apartments in the city. By Andy Rogers Adrian Daily Telegram (MI) November 21, 2006 ADRIAN — In what board members called a "difficult" and "uncomfortable" scenario, the Adrian City Commission voted Monday to deny an economic development incentive to one of its own members. Commissioner Kirk Valentine, a partner in Collegeview LLC, did not vote or take part in commission deliberations on the issue. Collegeview LLC had sought a $31,000 reimbursement from the city’s brownfield authority to help Valentine and his brother build an 11-unit apartment building at 943 W. Maumee St., the site of a recently demolished funeral home. The plan has met stiff public opposition from neighbors. ...
