Planners hold off on golf-housing project By Myron Kukla The Grand Rapids Press January 18, 2007DOUGLAS -- City planning commissioners Wednesday tabled a request to redevelop the West Shore Golf Course into an upscale residential/golf development, and fielded comments from residents concerned about environmental contaminants and traffic connected to the site. Officials said they need more information from the developer before they can move forward. Golf course owner Paul Wicks is seeking site plan approval for the 142-unit development and 9-hole course he is proposing for the site, which currently is an 18-hole course along Ferry and Center streets. ...
