Wright Township won't be home to ethanol plant BY COULTER JONES The Citizen's Voice (PA) January 20, 2007Northeastern Pennsylvania will get an ethanol plant by summer 2008, Rich Scheller said Friday, but it won't be in Mountain Top. Scheller, chief executive officer of Northeast Ethanol and Renewable Resources, said "pre-existing environmental conditions" at the former Foster Wheeler site in the Crestwood Industrial Park, Wright Township, proved too costly to pursue construction of the company's proposed $100 million plant. The company invested almost $100,000 in engineering studies and legal fees investigating it, he said. Northeast Ethanol's plant would produce 50 million gallons of ethanol annually and employ about 50 people full-time, paid $15 to $20 hourly. Scheller assured the company would build a plant in the region; however, he wouldn't release the other four locations the company has considered. ...
