Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] Restoration 2007 travel scholarships - May 2-4 in NOLA |
Last year, more than a thousand leaders concerned with disaster
management from the public, private and non-profit sectors attended the
Restoration 2006 Conference to work on a new approach to emergency
management and post-disaster recovery.
Join us on May 2-4 at the New Orleans Sheraton for Restoration 2007: Innovation, Leadership and Networks for Post-Disaster Recovery which promises to be a ground-breaking event in the world of post-disaster recovery. This national conference, sponsored by ICMA, the premier local government leadership and management organization in cooperation with dozens of co-sponsoring organizations, concentrates on how to foster community redevelopment and revitalization following a disaster. The event features dozens of educational sessions and roundtable discussions. Notable speakers this year include Dr. Douglas Brinkley, Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Center for American Civilization and Professor of History at Tulane University, author of The Great Deluge and Dr. Edward Blakely, Executive Director of Recovery Management from the City of New Orleans. ICMA is pleased to offer, with sponsorship by the U.S. EPA Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment, a limited number of travel scholarships for individuals interested in attending the Restoration 2007 conference that cannot attend without financial assistance. Travel scholarships will cover the conference registration fee as well as two night's hotel accommodations. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be affiliated with, or a representative of a local government. Communities currently in the process of restoration after a disaster are encouraged to apply but all applications will be considered. Please go to www.Restoration2007.org for information about the conference. For more information contact Sheritha Wright at swright@icma.org or visit the Travel Scholarships Information Page. The application form can be faxed, mailed, or emailed to Sheritha Wright and must be received no later than Monday, April 16, 2007.
