Port: Fruit Valley groundwater on mend BY ERIK ROBINSON The Columbian (WA) May 9, 2007While Fruit Valley residents sleep, a tainted plume of groundwater underlying their west Vancouver neighborhood steadily gets a little less hazardous. That was the message the Port of Vancouver shared with residents during a pair of neighborhood meetings and tours last week. Port officials wanted to bring residents up to date on the cleanup of groundwater pollution severe enough to cause vapors of trichloroethylene to waft into six homes at higher-than-expected levels. ...Meanwhile, the port continues to operate vacuum systems in six homes identified with relatively high levels of TCE vapor in the ambient air. ...
