Factory: Toxins pose no threat REBECCA ROBINSON Bennington Banner (VT) May 22, 2007BENNINGTON - A second round of testing the air in Gage Street homes for solvents that may have leaked off the grounds of the Energizer plant has led state officials and Energizer Plant Manager Jeffrey Schroeder to determine that there is no immediate threat to human health posed by current solvent levels on property surrounding the plant. Schroeder said Monday that the second round of indoor air sampling conducted at four homes near the plant on Gage Street "showed results similar to earlier test data ... and, since these results do not indicate a threat to human health, no other action needs to be taken at present." Results confirmedSchroeder said that consultants from Connecticut-based environmental firm Environmental Resource Management, and state Department of Environmental Conservation representative Michael Smith used the second round of testing to verify the results of the first round. "We just wanted to confirm the sources (of the solvents), and make sure nothing in the homes was producing this type of contamination," said Schroeder. ...
