Emerson to test South Hill school By Jennie Daley Ithaca Journal (NY) July 3, 2007ITHACA - Emerson Power Transmission will test South Hill Elementary School property for industrial pollutants according to a document it sent to the Department of Environmental Conservation. A group of parents whose children attend the school had been asking for the testing and recently ramped up their efforts. The plan, which still needs approval from the DEC, would include six sampling locations on the school property. The sampling sites would be placed between the back of the building and South Aurora Street. It would be the first time Emerson has tested on the east side of South Aurora Street. At the same time the southern portion of the Emerson Power Transmission property and a former sewer line from what used to be the National Cash Register factory will be tested. Estimates in the proposed work plan said that the testing would take three days with results available within four weeks. Another two weeks would be needed to complete the report. ...
