Firm seeks info on pollution at city school site

WOONSOCKET - The consulting firm hired by the city to assess the 
proposed Hamlet Avenue middle school site are asking anyone who may have 
any knowledge of pollution issues at the site to contact them as they 
begin developing a plan for additional testing.

About 25 residents Thursday attended a public hearing hosted by city 
officials and representatives of Fuss & O'Neill, the consulting 
engineers hired to identify and come up with a remediation plan for the 
future home of the $74 million twin middle school project between Hamlet 
Avenue and Villa Nova Street.

The public hearing comes several weeks before a citywide voter 
referendum Aug. 14 to decide whether to borrow $74 million for the 
project. Included in that amount is about $4 million the city says it 
needs for cleaning up the site.
