Heifer Headquarters State's First Platinum Rated LEED Building By Arkansas Business Staff August 30, 2007The U.S. Green Building Council on Thursday said nonprofit world hunger relief organization Heifer International has been awarded a Platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification rating for its new headquarters building in Little Rock. The rating is the construction industry's highest honor for buildings that demonstrate environmental responsibility. The makes Heifer's headquarters the first platinum-rated building in Arkansas and the only one in the south-central United States, joining fewer than 50 energy-conserving buildings with the rating. ...The headquarters was built on an old Brownfield site of abandoned rail and trucking facilities. ...
