City, developer reach initial deal on Steel PointA proposed agreement between the city and the Steel Point developer has gone to the City Council for consideration. Brad Durrell Bridgeport News (CT) September 20, 2007The agreement was reached between Mayor John M. Fabrizi's administration and Bridgeport Landing Development LLC, which intends to spend at least $1.2 billion to turn vacant property on the East Side waterfront into retail shops, restaurants, entertainment facilities, residences, offices, a hotel, marina and public spaces. Announcing the agreement Monday, Fabrizi called Steel Point "the largest and greatest economic development project ever in the history of the city of Bridgeport." Fabrizi noted that redevelopment of the land has been discussed for three decades, and the project's outcome may determine whether Bridgeport can become a thriving economic hub again. ...
