Battlefield cleanup entering final phase Charles Slat Monroe News (MI) November 19, 2007 Monroe officials have lined up funding to finish the demolition of a former paper mill and clear the site for development of a national historic battlefield park commemorating the War of 1812's Battle of the River Raisin. Armed with a combination grants and revolving loans, rubble and remaining buildings on the battlefield site will be removed and the acreage graded in the months ahead, leaving it ready for development of an interpretive park.
