Project will test treatment method on plume By MIKE STARK Billings Gazette (MT) December 12, 2007 An experiment begins today to see if underground injections will help neutralize the threat of contaminated groundwater beneath a Billings neighborhood. ... Meanwhile, EPA is gearing up to begin excavating contaminated soil that's believed to be the source of the polluted groundwater plume beneath more than 400 homes, buildings and businesses. ... The biggest concern is that vapors from the PCE in the groundwater are migrating up into homes where people might inhale them. Of 45 homes tested by the EPA, four showed elevated levels of PCE in their basements and many others had elevated levels beneath their foundations. ...
