Lighthouse Point project wins court case with DEC Erica Bryant Rochester Democrat and Chronicle December 25, 2007 IRONDEQUOIT - The State Supreme Court has ruled that the state Department of Environmental Conservation was wrong to exclude the proposed Lighthouse Pointe development from the State Brownfield Cleanup Program. Lighthouse Pointe Property Associates LLC aims to build upscale condos, townhouses, restaurants and a promenade on the site of a former city dump bordering the Genesee River on the eastern side of the Col. Patrick O'Rorke Bridge in Irondequoit. The project is expected to cost about $200 million. The developers say it could cost between $4 million and $8 million to rehabilitate the site, which contains hazardous waste. They applied for admission to the state Brownfield Cleanup Program, which offers tax credits and other incentives to encourage the re-use of contaminated property. In June, the DEC declared the project ineligible for cleanup incentives, saying that the site's level of contamination was minimal enough that it would not complicate redevelopment. ...
