Riverfront park said to be done by end of 2008 By IGNAZIO MESSINA TOLEDO BLADE (OH) Decemer 28, 2007 Conceptual drawings released yesterday for the proposed Marina District on the Maumee River's eastern shore show a veritable urban wonderland - happy faces and outdoor performances included. The drawings include an urban beach with sand art in the summer and snow sculptures in the winter; a checkerboard garden, an oval amphitheater, and a cherry blossom trail. The new pedestrian-friendly "Riverfront Park at Toledo Marina District" is to take shape on a once heavily polluted site that remains home to Toledo Edison's large, decommissioned Acme Generating Station. Todd Davies, Toledo's commissioner of development, said the Marina District's riverfront park will be a reality by the end of 2008. ...
